South
Carolina Treasure and Artifact Association - January Minutes January 28, 2015
The
SCTAA met on January 26, 2015 with 36 in attendance including 6 visitors, C. Bell, Alton Williams, Steve
Horkovy(?), and Rich Revenson who signed in and two others. We collected 6 more membership dues for 2015
bringing the total to 28 so far this year.
The
program was a discussion and revision of the club By-Laws.
*A
question was asked recently, “Should items found without using a detector
(visually discovered while laying on top of the ground), be entered in the
monthly contest?” After discussion, the
members overwhelmingly voted to allow such items to be included.
*The
Treasure Hunter Contest Donations category was amended to a sliding scale:
Donations of coins or other items
(usually for upcoming hunt) ----- 1 to 10 points
Silver Dollar = 10 pts.; Silver Fifty
Cent Piece = 5 pts.; Silver Quarter = 3 pts.; Silver Dime = 2 pts.;
Silver war nickels/buffalo or earlier
or wheat pennies or earlier = 1 pt. each.
Clarification is needed about setting a
cap on the number of points which can be earned per month.
