South Carolina Treasure and Artifact Association  - September Minutes               October 3,  2013             

 

The SCTAA met on September 23, 2013 with 40 in attendance including visitors:  Sam Heller and Curt Hollifield; and new 2013 member Bob Burns and new 2014 member Doug Gillett.

 

The meeting consisted of several reports:  Robert Weaver reported that the Low Country Hunt was "just okay".  Greg Parma reported on his experiences metal detecting in England along with the differences in clubs.  There, membership is limited and there is a waiting list.  Farmers are paid by the participants who then hunt their lands.  Bill Guthke shared research he's done on (hard to reach) sites that might produce artifacts.  Randy gave tips on competition hunting for our coming hunt and advised that the proposed, then cancelled, hunt to assist the Park Rangers at Ninety-six Battlefield was cancelled due to budget shortages and may occur in the future.

Officer nominations will take place in October and be voted on in November.

August treasury ended with a balance of $1,260.40.  We collected: 2013 Memberships - $50; 2014 Memberships - $75;  Money Donations for Points - $90; donation can - $17.78; Lake Lure Hunt fees - $390. The amended closing balance is $1,883.18.

The SCTAA met on July 22, 2013 with 38 in attendance including visitors:  Dena and Russ Lee, her dad, Bill Smith and Tal Cloud.  The program covered information about the Myrtle Beach trip that is scheduled for August 17-24.  Everyone is welcome for a few days or all week.  Robert shared information about the 2013 Fall Open Hunt in the South Carolina Low country sponsored by Carolina Antique & Collectables (CA&C) in Reevesville, SC.  Hunt information forms will be emailed to all on our mailing list.

South Carolina Treasure and Artifact Association  - June Minutes                         June 30,  2013             

 

The SCTAA met on June 24, 2013 with 29 in attendance.  The program covered an explanation of the prizes and procedures for our annual hunt at Lake Lure.  There are several measures that were explained that make the hunt fair for all the hunters.  Maggie Moffat was commended for her regular monthly donations of silver coins to be used at the hunt.  Everyone was encouraged to make donations, if possible, and plan to participate.

SCTAA. April 2013

South Carolina Treasure and Artifact Association  - April Minutes                          April 24,  2013             

 

The SCTAA met on April 22, 2013 with 28 in attendance.  We welcomed new members Paul and Brenda Brown, Kenny Brackett, Kent Creamer and Wayne and Susan King.  The program covered the coming Spring Hunt and the Myrtle Beach detecting trip.  Anyone who can join in on the hunt can pay the $30 fee the day of the hunt.  Others are also invited to come to the beach trip for a day or two or all week for group hunting and fellowship at Randy's condo or while eating out. 

 

Important Dates: Spring Hunt at Moore, SC Farm on Gas Plant Rd. - May 4, 2013 10a.m. - 1p.m.

                            Myrtle Beach Metal Detecting Trip - June 15 - 22, 2013

March treasury ended with a balance of $534.70.  We collected: Money Donations for Points - $91; donation can - $14;  2013 Spring hunt fees $150 (given to Robert/not put in the treasury); 2013 club dues - $125.  The closing balance is $764.70.  The next meeting will be May 20 (the fourth Monday falls on Memorial Day and the Greer Rec. Centers are all closed).
